RCMPSwift Current roving traffic unit stopped a silver vehicle traveling west bound on Highway 1 just east of Swift Current.The vehicle was stopped for a registration violation under the Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Act. As a result of the vehicle stop RCMP members were


able to determine that one of the passengers was 18-year-old Cody Joseph Kakeeway from Winnipeg. RCMP in Swift Current determined Kakeeway had an outstanding warrant for murder, dating back to December 7, 2011 from theWinnipeg Police Service. RCMP in Swift Current advised the Winnipeg Police Service of the arrest of Kakeeway. Kakeeway has been remanded into custody and the

the following offences: Sexual Assault, Invitation to Sexual Touching, Sexual Interference, Distribution of Child Pornography,and Possession of Child Pornography. The accused made his first appearance at Edmonton


Provincial Court Jan.9 where he reserved his plea. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 25 at Cold Lake Provincial Court. The accused will remain in custody and his name will not be released to protect the identity of the victim and family. At this time the investigation does not support offences being allegedly committed by the accused outside of the family unit. The investigation is continuing and the RCMP at Cold


Lake are now requesting additional assistance from the Military Police at Canadian Forces - 4 Wing Cold Lake because the accused is an employee of the Air Force Base.

facing various firearms related charges after being arrested by the RCMP on a farm near Swift Current on Jan. 12. Peter Ginter was arrested when the RCMP


responded to a firearms complaint on a farm west of the city. He made his first court appearance at Provincial Court on Jan. 13 to face charges of break and enter, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and two charges of careless use of a firearm. He was released on strict conditions and he made his second court appearance Jan. 16, when a number of conditions were amended. Judge L.A. Matsalla adjourned the case for three


weeks to allow Ginter enough time to find legal counsel. The accused is required to keep the peace and to


have no contact with the complainant. He must refrain from using alcohol and he is also not allowed to have any weapons. His next court appearance is scheduled Feb. 6.
