Housing Commentary:

The Fishguard and Goodwick area is well known for its significant amount of holiday/second homes. There is a shortage of affordable housing for local people as in many other areas of the UK. Fishguard is lucky to have two Tai Cantref sites in Fishguard i.e. Dan y Bryn and Gwelfor, which provide affordable housing but not always for local people. There is definitely a need for more affordable housing and this has been addressed in the Local Development Plan, where potential development sites have been identified.

Although local people are keen to retain the character of their communities, residents realise that there will be no community if they do not allow for affordable housing development. It is generally agreed that any new housing development/conversion will be conducted in a sustainable manner through the choice of material usage and installation of energy efficient heating, lighting, etc.
