THE ENERGY EVENT UPDATE THE UK’S LEADING ANNUAL BUSINESS ENERGY EVENT
Highlights from the 2011 show
In September 2010, Emap acquired The Energy Event and made a promise to its valued exhibitors and visitors to deliver a show that’s bigger and better without diluting its focus.
The move to the NEC, Birmingham wasn’t an easy one given the event’s long history in a smaller, more unusual venue. In the end, the footfall spoke for itself: the accessibility, room for expansion and navigability of the NEC proved the right decision as the event enjoyed exponential growth. Below are some of the highlights.
Quality of visitors
Not only have the number of visitors doubled under Emap’s stewardship, the quality and loyalty of visitors has become core to our offering.

The average visitor to The Energy Event is a corporate user of energy responsible for the purchasing decisions of a multisite organisation which boasts 4,000 employees and a £69m annual turnover.
Almost all (98%) of our visitors are instrumental in the purchasing decisions made on behalf of their organisations with 54% having sole or joint decision making power to invest in new products or services.
The next Energy Event takes place on the 11-12 of September 2012 at the NEC Birmingham and promises to once again be a key diary date for anyone involved in energy procurement and management.
The 2011 event offered a dedicated stage to end-users with eleven case studies presented at the newly built Energy Information Theatre. Central to the exhibition was the cornerstone of the event, Energy Insight Conference, which drew a number of influential and well known faces: the UK’s Energy Minister, Charles Hendry as well as Karren Brady, Lord Digby Jones and one of the best known, best loved broadcasters in the UK: BBC Radio 4 Today Programme presenter – John Humphrys.
All of The Energy Event seminars are certified for Continuing Professional Development purposes meaning that visitors to the event gained points towards their CPD Certification.
Where to from here?
Over the past 12 months, we have worked hard to develop an event that this industry deserves. The change in ownership and the move to the NEC represents a new era for The Energy Event and if this year’s event is anything to go by, it is set to go from strength to strength and further cement its place as the authoritative event in the energy sector. Expect more of the best conference content, more of the best end-user networking and the most valuable prospect development in the industry.
