Graduates 2011 From journalism and music to outstanding contributions to the prison service and the local community, this year’s honorary graduates have all made a big impact on the lives of others and we are proud to recognise their achievements.


1. Bill Campbell


Master of Arts, honoris causa In recognition of outstanding achievements as a Salfordian and contribution to the creative industries within the City of Salford.


6. Christopher Paul Sheffield OBE Doctor of Letters, honoris causa In recognition of the outstanding contribution made to the Prison Service of England and Wales and the work contributed to our students’ learning experience here at the University of Salford.


2. Alan Garner OBE


Doctor of Letters, honoris causa In recognition of outstanding achievements in literature and public education in local heritage.

Doctor of Letters, honoris causa In recognition of outstanding achievements and contribution to the community.


3. Deborah Haynes


Doctor of Science, honoris causa In recognition of outstanding achievements as a campaigner for Iraqi interpreters and translators working for the British and for her achievements in journalism.


4. Magnus Mowat


Doctor of Letters, honoris causa In recognition of outstanding achievements and contribution to improving the lives of the residents of Salford and the wider community through work with the Booth Charities.


5. Peggy Seeger
