Alumni profile Rob Bagshaw


The School of Media, Music and Performance at Salford has an impressive history of producing well-known actors, musicians and entertainers including; Sir Ben Kingsley, Christopher Eccleston, Maxine Peake and Peter Kay. For alumnus Rob Bagshaw however, studying at Salford has led to a highly successful career behind the camera.

ob graduated from Salford in 1995 with a BA (Hons) in Media and Performance. He has since gone on to become known as one of the most diverse


television producers in the world. His work spans entertainment, reality, talk, magazine, music, comedy, soap-opera, drama, documentary and current affairs and has been broadcast on major networks and cables in the UK, the USA and across the globe.


The range of subject matters Rob has worked with are truly diverse and he has handled everything from bomb scares, elections, assassinations, streakers, drunk rock-stars and world record attempts - all on live television. His work spans award ceremonies including, the British Academy Film and Television Awards (BAFTA), MTV Europe Music Awards, British Comedy Awards and the BRITS, plus game show formats such as The National Lottery and drama series such as Prime Suspect. In between he has worked on feature films, documentaries, theatre and rock concerts.


Now based in LA, Rob produces some of America’s top-rated TV shows


For Rob, the first achievement on the road to all of this success was gaining his place at Salford. He spoke to us about his time here and some of the incredible achievements he has enjoyed in his career since: “I auditioned for my course with five other people, and they put me in a room with one other person while they talked to the other
