Why did you go into trucking?My dad had trucks and I grew up around it. I’ve always liked trucks and I needed a job after college. In 1986, I went to work for D & D at their Missoula store in the service department. I moved to the Billings store in 1995 when the Missoula store was sold. I was given the opportunity to move from the service department to sales in 1996.
What is the best piece of advice you ever received? Try to never make the same mistake twice and learn from your mistakes.
What is your business philosophy? Treat our customers how I would want to be treated as a customer.
What is the biggest challenge currently facing the trucking industry? More regulations resulting in increased costs for equipment and personnel.
What improvements have you seen in the industry? Equipment technology has come a long way in 10 years. Our customers now have the ability to monitor the set point and temperature of their cargo and make adjustments from their desktop if necessary.
What are the greatest benefits of membership in the Motor Carriers of Montana? The networking opportunities and a legislative voice.
YOUR COMPANY... When was it started? How long has it been in operation? D & D was started in 1976 and has been taking care of customers for 35 years.

What are the challenges facing your business today? With all of the jobs available in the oilfield, it is a challenge to add qualified service technicians to increase our service business. The work is here, we just need more people to get it done.
What assets set your company apart from your competition? We are Montana family-owned and operated. Our people here, our premium products and our excellent factory support for our customers set us apart from many of our competitors.
Where do you see growth coming from in the future? We will continue to grow with our current customers by providing additional solutions for their transportation needs. We will also have growth with new product lines that will service oilfield and tanker customers.
What is the most important service your company provides to fill a need in trucking? We provide solutions for our customer’s demands and needs that keep them in compliance with regulations and can help them increase their bottom-line. RW
