That’s how Doralee Jacobson describes the fare served at Jack’s Bistro & Famous Bagels, her wildly popular Carpinteria Avenue eatery.


This is not to say that Jack’s, as it is known locally, doesn’t serve French fries or other golden treats. Jack’s does and they are delicious. Jacobson’s idea is that food should be enjoyed, taste delicious, and offer nourishment to the body and soul.


TOP, bagels remain the bread and butter of Jack’s Bistro & Famous Bagels though the menu has grown vastly to include full breakfast and lunch menus along with catering options.


ABOVE FROM LEFT, how about a bit of bruschetta with your bagel? Pancetta salad is one of the newer items served at Jack’s. Cambridge House salmon with a spot of dill and you can’t go wrong.
