Greetings!
As Governor of the State of Illinois, I am pleased to welcome everyone gathered for the 2012 Soaring to New Heights Conference hosted by the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA).
Illinois is privileged to have more than 400 park districts, forest preserves, conservation, recreation and special recreation agencies that are second to none in the nation. For that, I’d like to thank each of you - the stewards who strive to protect our natural resources and work diligently to improve the lives of the citizens of Illinois.
Preserving and protecting the natural beauty of Illinois is vital to ensure that it remains undisturbed for the education and enjoyment of future generations. I hope this conference provides you the opportunity to expand your knowledge while you network with others in the parks and recreation profession. I am certain that everyone in attendance will leave with a renewed sense of commitment, armed with the knowledge and enthusiasm to succeed.
