lea boyd amy m. orozco

Since completing her Q&a with actress Susan Flannery, editor and writer amy orozco is trying to devise a way to watch “the Bold and the Beautiful” in one of the Pocket Parks she also wrote about. amy’s work credits include

Disney television, the Los angeles times, and many regional and travel publications. Her guidebook on Solvang, published by Channel Lake inc., is due in bookstores in early 2011. amy and her husband make their home in downtown Carpinteria.

Whether she is researching a story for Carpinteria magazine, keeping readers up to date with local happenings as the managing editor of Coastal View news, or playing at the beach with her husband and their lightning-fast Labrador mix, Lea Boyd leads life without a dull moment. this issue of the magazine found her meeting alpacas, sampling from reyes market, and hunting for constellations with star-struck amateur astronomers. Who knows where we’ll find her next.

peter dugré fran davis

as avid admirer of the charming tchotchke and the cool collectible, Fran Davis was happy to hit the antique trail to explore Carpinteria’s shops. She especially appreciates the clustered closeness and convenience of the city’s antique stores and regularly checks out their ever-changing and imaginative window displays to see what’s new. Fran writes a column for the Coastal View news and is widely published in travel books and print and online journals.

Writer Peter Dugré is feeling more red, white and blue than ever after researching his subjects for this issue. He encountered Carpinteria peaceniks who exercise their right to demon- strate with their weekly peace vigil in opposition to america’s wars. and the work of larger-than-life local artist Barnaby Conrad is inseparable from the great american outdoors and the rugged pursuits of a people whose work is defined by self-discipline.

beth mcdonald juli land-marx

as art director, Juli Land-marx is the visionary behind the “Wow! factor” of Carpinteria magazine. She’s the one who turns ideas and photographs into the eye-popping layouts that keep fingers turning pages. Juli finds designing the magazine a challenge and a pleasure. and, no matter how perilously close to deadline the publication teeters, her feathers remain unruffled.

Claiming not to have a favorite story, Juli says the real joy for her is seeing Carpinteria magazine read around town.

When she is not noodling around Carpinteria and being ordered about by canine best friend mr. maximus, Beth mcDonald is the astrological equivalent of a fixer. She solves a lot of different sorts of problems for a lot of different sorts of people. She is also the

astrologer for Coastal View news, richard Dugan’s tell me Your Story: new Paradigms for a new World, and Ceti & mond.
