EVERGREEN FC W

hatever else happens this season I‘ve told the lads these are the two games we have

to win. This is the message Evergreen FC‘s manager

Gordon Wallis sent ahead of the ―derby double‖ matches against local rivals Bedmond on Monday, January 2, and Saturday, January 14. Wallis said: ―There‘s obviously a lot of rivalry

between us and them so they should be a couple of really intense games. The players do not need any extra motivation for these games because there‘s a lot of pride at stake.‖ Away from local matters December saw the

South Way club presented with the tough task of taking on the top two teams in the Herts Senior County League Division One. Despite losing both games two-nil to Whitwell and Belstone, Wallis is happy with the way the team played.

games because there’s a lot of pride at stake’

He said: ―Those teams will get promoted in

the top two spots this season. The third promotion place is still feasible although I think it will be difficult.‖ A bullish Wallis predicted that if Evergreen

does not get promoted this season they will be champions in the following campaign. ―We‘ve forged a really good spirit at the club

this season especially when you consider we didn‘t even have a side competing the previous season. We went out for our Christmas party and there were more than 30 people, we‘re becoming more than a team and more like a family.‖

Evergreen FC’s manager Gordon Wallis. Wallis praised the rise in attendance during

the first four months of this season. He said: ―It‘s good to see more supporters at our home games and I think that‘s down to the quality of football we‘re playing this season.‖ Top of the first team‘s 2012 wish list is a new

striker according to Wallis. He added: ―We definitely need a new target man in the next few weeks. It‘s a priority for me.‖ The club is looking for a reserve team

manager who can take over the reigns immediately. Anyone interested should email Gordon at gjw0404@o2.co.uk.
