T

he Abbots Langley Community Centre man- agement team are looking forward to starting

a new year and extend grateful thanks to those individuals and groups who assisted the smooth running of the centre in 2011. Firstly Brian Hibberd (fundraising) successful-

ly secured a £500 grant from Councillor Paul Goggin‘s Locality Budget. The money was put towards the fund for purchasing new tables for the coffee area. There is also a new noticeboard on the outside

of the building so user groups and users of the centre can advertise their group or event. We hope this helps residents find out about the cen- tre‘s activities. Finally, we would like to thank the parish

council for fixing the streetlamp outside the cen- tre so that visibility in the car park is improved. Fundraising was strong in 2011 with the annu-

al Jigfest, carnival stall, local projects and also the Budgens collection tins. Combined, the funds allow us to maintain the centre to a good stand-

ard and keep our equipment up to date. Fund- raising for 2012 begins with the Jigfest which is on Saturday, March 24. Most of our groups are charity-based groups

and rely on volunteers to run them. The Youth Group which is open on a Thursday evening for 13 to 19 year olds is looking for volunteers to help with the group‘s activities. If you have some spare time and are interested in supporting a local group please contact Wendy Beaumont on 07968 491276. Changes to the community centre schedule

include an extra evening of zumba. The new class is coming to the centre on Tuesdays at 6.30pm until 7.30pm and 8pm until 9pm and Fridays, 7pm until 8pm. Finally the centre is open for party bookings

and the hire cost for 2012 has been frozen at the 2011 rates. Please call 07530 266293 or visit www.abbotslangleycommunitycentre.co.uk. Please also note the number for youth groups has changed to 01923 264 800.
