Punters raise hundreds for hospices Quizmistress “Mrs Santa” and her three elf helpers and with the winning quiz team.

P

ubgoers in Abbots Langley put their heads together to raise hundreds of pounds for the

two hospices that care for people in the area with life-limiting illnesses. Punters at the Unicorn Pub in Gallows Hill

took part in a quiz night shortly before Christ- mas and raised £650, which will be split between the Peace Hospice in Watford and the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted. More than 90 people split into 12 teams to pit

their wits in aid of the charities, answering ques- tions based around a Christmas theme. ―Matt Matt and the Two Belles‖ was the team

that picked up the most points, and was revealed as the winner at the end of the evening by quiz- mistress Mrs Santa and her three elf helpers. Organiser of the quiz, Cherry Hollow resident

Jan Cunnington, said: ―Scott, the owner, and Deb, the manager of the Unicorn, are wonderful supporters of local charities and kindly provided a sausage and chips supper at half-time during the quiz to keep the teams going. ―We raised a fantastic amount of money, which

will go in equal part to the Peace Hospice and the Hospice of St Francis, who both cover Wat- ford, Abbots Langley and Kings Langley.‖
