Independence Visitor Center Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Philadelphia, PA November 10, 2011 - Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter joined Independence Visitor Center Corporation (IVCC) President James J. Cuorato, along with elected officials, hospitality and tourism officials and guests at a gala celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the Independence Visitor Center.
Since it’s opening in 2001, the Independence Visitor Center has become the premier visitor welcome and information facility in the nation, having served more than 20 million visitors.

“It has been an amazing decade of growth and accom- plishment for the Independence Visitor Center,” said Cuorato. “The number of visitors that have walked
through our doors is double what we anticipated back in 2001, and the success of the visitor center has surpassed all expectations.”
A new partnership with SugarHouse Casino was announced as part of the evening’s festivities, and Cuorato also noted that the visitor center would expand its services by opening an additional location along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The second site will be housed in the café pavilion at Sister Cities Park.
Also unveiled that night was a new mobile application dubbed “Philadelphia History This Way.” This new app is designed to steer visitors through local historic treas- ures by use of their mobile device.

Middle Pa MPI
Hershey, PA December 7, 2011 - From the beauti- fully decorated setting in The Hotel Hershey to the humorous - yet insightful - speaker, December's Middle PA MPI's meeting boasted the chapter’s largest-ever turnout for a meeting.
Business humorist Todd Hunt taught everyone how to embrace their inner "AR" self (that's "anal retentive") by offering anecdotal tidbits, such as: adding your photo to the front of packages you are shipping; and reserving tables in the back of a room with a sign that reads "Reserved for Volunteer Audience Participation" in order to dissuade people from sitting in the back.
Independence Visitor Center acts as the welcome center for Independence National Historical Park and the region to people from all over the U.S. and the world.
