Facebook Photo Safari Challenge – Destination: Canton in Summer


You don’t need to book an expensive adventure travel trip to an exotic destination to capture extraordinary images with your camera. Point & shoot your lens around Canton this summer and share your unique perspective with us! Each week this summer from June 10 – July 28 will feature a different challenge asking you to photograph a specific location in the community. Participants may submit only one image each week and entries may only be submitted by posting them on the wall of the Canton Leisure Services Facebook page. No print or film submissions will be accepted. Winning photographers will receive CLS giftcards & winning images will be used in future CLS publications like the DISCOVER Brochure. OFFICIAL RULES: Only photographs taken within Canton’s geographic borders are eligible for contest entry. Photographs must be taken between 6/10/12 and 7/28/12. All images will become property of Canton Leisure Services. Winning images will be requested and may be used in future CLS publications or marketing pieces. High-resolution photos are preferred. (6x4 or 4x6, or larger preferred; Resolution: 300 pixels per inch desired, 200 ppi minimum.) If photographing individuals, this includes both minors and adults, permission must be granted prior to shooting and submission. Only minor cropping and adjustments to the original image are permitted. A panel of CLS judges will select one winner each week and will notify the photographer the week following submission. All decisions are final.


Camp Fair


Looking to make great plans this summer? Look no further than Canton Leisure Services! We offer summer programs for all ages and all interests including day camps, preschool camps, sports camps, special needs programs, teen camps, art camps, science and educational camps, and many more! Representatives from over 25 different camps will be onsite to answer all of your questions. Many of our popular camps fill up fast, so don’t miss out. Both parents and children welcome; we will have some activities for the children as well. Light refreshments and raffles will be provided. Location: Summit Grand Ballroom Ages: All Ages

Enjoy strolling entertainment and a visit with your favorite furry egg-toting friend. The buffet will be open from 9 to 10am with your favorite breakfast items. Visit cantonfun.org for the full menu. Registration will end on Sunday, March 25 at 8pm. Advance registration is required – tickets will not be sold at the door. Participants must present their ticket at the door to gain entry. “Ultimate Block Party” Neighborhood Challenge


How would you like to win the ultimate block party for your neighborhood? Get the neighbors talking about you (in a good way this time), simply by attending our events. Here’s how: • ‘Check-In’ at any of our “Canton Come Out & Play!” tagged events, earning points for your neighborhood (values vary by event)


• Earn extra points by displaying neighborhood pride and checking in with larger groups of neighbors, or wearing matching t-shirts, etc.


• Attend our “Mondays in the Village” musical concerts in Cherry Hill Village and participate in the various activities and competitions held each week in July

The final Mondays in the Village concert will feature the Annual Ice Cream Social, as well as the “Awards Ceremony” – celebrating the participation of the neighborhoods and announcing the winner of the “Ultimate Block Party.” The Ultimate Block Party Prize will include:


• A free Backyard Beats concert the following summer • Free use of a park pavilion or tent at the Cherry Hill School or Bartlett-Travis House to host a neighborhood picnic or BBQ


• Private/VIP use of one of Canton Leisure Services Splash Pads


• Free use of the Recreation Station & Bouncer • Additional items received from our Sponsors

Easter Eggstravaganza


Bring the kids out to enjoy a variety of Easter and spring- themed activities! Maximize your experience by registering for the Easter Bunny Pancake Breakfast which takes place just prior to this event in the Summit’s Grand Ballroom! No pre-registration is necessary for the Easter Eggstravaganza – however there is a $2 per child fee to participate in the day’s activities. We will run continuous egg hunts between 10:30am-12:30pm in two age categories which helps to keep the “hunting” fair for even our littlest participants. Please allow some extra time for parking, as historically this is a well- attended event. The grounds tend to be very wet in early spring so please DRESS ACCORDINGLY. Location: Heritage Park (near the playscape & splashpad) Ages: Up to 11yrs Fee: $2 per child Time: 10:30am-12:30pm Date: Mar 31

Fee: $5 Per Participant May 5 Ages: All Ages (Canton Residents Only Please) The Heritage Park ponds will be once again stocked with rainbow trout for this great annual event. We will have giveaways, and will be teaching techniques for first- timers. No fishing license is required. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy quality leisure time with family, friends and neighbors. Don’t miss out on one of Canton’s family traditions! Canton residents only please.
