ast February, over 300 friends and fans of NYHS and honorees Ruben Owen and Moshe Genauer filled the elegant halls of the Grand Hyatt for our annual gala dinner and auction. Attendees were greeted with beautiful classical piano played by Grant


Blumenstein 2009 and guitar by Josh Voss 2011 and gracious student hosts. Auction chairs, Bayla Friedman Treiger and Julie Varon and their committee had a wonderful array of fun and unique items and services for bidding pleasure. Students in glow necklaces sold raffle tickets. Our honorees spoke eloquently about their commitment to NYHS and Jewish education. Ruben Owen and Julie Owen announced a $20,000 gift to establish a sports endowment in memory of their grandson Sam Owen A”H. Spirited bidding by the attendees helped raise over $200,000 for NYHS.


Also, a gift of 20 new laptops donated by Hewlett Packard was announced by NYHS Parents, Steve & Iris Schwartz.
