OPERA HOLLAND PARK
‘Fox seen in park.’ Nothing new there, but Opera Holland Park’s (OHP’s) particular fox was set running all over the Yucca Lawn by Roald Dahl and Tobias Picker, and returns after a triumphant tally-ho last year. It’s the sole revival in a season of new productions that indulge Opera Holland Park’s penchant for Italy. Only Mozart’s Figaro bucks the bruschetta – and even that’s
Handel, Reincken, Telemann, Bach (14 May); Gustav Leonhardt: The German Touch (15 May); Cantus Cölln/Konrad Junghänel: Buxtehude Membra Jesu nostri (17 May); Choir of Westminster Abbey/James O’Donnell: Biber Requiem (19 May); Matthias Maute, Ensemble Caprice: Telemann and the Gypsies

Fantastic Mr Fox was directed by Stephen Barlow and to him falls this year’s Don Pasquale, new to OHP’s repertoire and conducted by a man who knows a thing or two about Donizetti: Richard Bonynge. With Donald Maxwell as the irascible Don, it should prove quite a curtain-up for Rigoletto and a trio of relative
rarities – Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz, Puccini’s La rondine, and Catalani’s La Wally. Viva Italia! WHEN 7 June-13 August WHERE Holland Park, London TEL 0845 230 9769 (UK only) WEB
