Hello and welcome from the Head of School
We know that you have a big decision to make, so within this book you will find some helpful pointers, open day information and first hand views from those who have ‘made it big’ while studying or after graduation from the School of Creative Arts.
How do you choose one university over another, let alone find a course that meets your needs and then goes on to fulfill your aspirations? Within our School, what we do and how we do it makes a difference. In fact, our approach to teaching and the underlying ethos that drives the School forward makes a big difference!
To be successful in a ‘creative industry’, it is no longer good enough to know the software, have a range of professional skills or be technically proficient. To be employable you must be able to offer more. Our ethos is about helping you to develop confidence in your work and your ideas so that you are able to work creatively and can produce responses that are not just technically sound, but are innovative and meet the brief and exceed the client’s expectations.
Our whole structure, from the excellent facilities and resources, the highly qualified academic and technical staff, the close proximity to London and the integration of ‘industry’ within our courses, supports this approach and enables our students to be successful. Winning the Student Designer of the Year in 2011 (New Designers) is just one example of our successes, but there are many more in this book.
Alongside the benefits of working in a creative School, you will also be part of a large, vibrant university, ranked as the UK’s leading ‘new’ university in 2010, offering excellent campus facilities and only 25 minutes from central London.
This ‘Make It Big’ book was prepared by a team of students and graduates working within our own design studio, demonstrating our confidence in them to deliver work to a professional standard. This is an investment in them – in time this could become our investment in you.
