Wolverines Football and Cheer Celebrate Season
submitted by Jon MacLean, Windham Wolverines Youth Football and Cheer The Windham Wolverines Football and Cheer
program celebrated a successful season at its inaugural awards banquet. Players, cheerleaders, coaches and family members streamed into the Castleton Conference Center. Everyone was treated to delicious hors d’oeuvres, beverages, highlight videos and inspirational speeches from the coaches. “As I look back and reflect, the program has far exceeded our expectations,” said program President Jim Williams from the podium in the ballroom. “We thank the players, coaches, team moms, and volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you.” The Wolverines did have quite a season for a

first year program. The sixth grade football team won the Division II State Championship and the cheerleading squads walked away multiple
competition trophies. The second and third grade combined football team finished undefeated and the fourth and fifth grade team were runners-up in the Division II State Championship game. “It was a tremendous experience - it was
awesome!” according to Kyle McInnis, VP and Director of Football Operations. “The trophies and championship are great, but more importantly is that all our boys learned how to play the game of football.” Kim Oliveira, the Director of Cheer, echoed McInnis’ sentiment. “We feel like our goals have been met. Our girls had a positive experience and learned skills that they can apply to next season. Oliveira continued, “We also taught them the principles of hard work and determination which they can use in their everyday lives.” To learn more about the Wolverines, go to
