wenty-five years is a grand milestone of ChristianWeek’s influential journalism in Canada, and worthy of celebration. What started as

“seeing a need” and taking those initial faith steps to follow a dream is a story in itself. ChristianWeek has written many chapters in its 25-year history and, if chronicled, would be more like a mystery novel than a predictable romance tale. Behind every issue has been the hard work of

intense research, careful word craſting by capable writers, and authentic religious journalism. Meeting publishing deadlines, growing a readership com- munity, paying the bills and staying afloat in tough times adds to the on-going challenges of newspaper publishing. Te ChristianWeek story is a God-story—a chap-

ter-by-chapter plot that was inspired and directed as its publishers, editors, writers, production team, administrative staff and board of directors heard God’s call and followed. ChristianWeek is known and respected for its wide range of journalistic themes, features and

Memorable story

35 < 35. ChristianWeek took part in a special project to iden- tify, profile, celebrate, equip and encourage young leaders across Canada. Working with Arrow Leader ship, the Bridge way Foun- dation and the Canadian Council of Christian Charities, we helped to select a final roster of 35 lead- ers 35 years of age and under. We produced a glossy maga- zine—Surge—containing pro- files of the finalists, which helped countless Christians to see that God has not abandoned this gen- eration. A rising tide of young leaders is already hard at work, finding creative ways to demon- strate Christian compassion and proclaim Christian truth.

interest points. It keeps readers current on church news, social justice and emerging cultural issues. It provides up-to-date features on politics and the big- ger global world of missions. It is known as Canada’s Christian newspaper because it is cross-generation- al, multicultural and embraces the faith life of the evangelical world as well as the historic churches of our nation. To many readers like me, people profiles have

been the strongest drawing point. Ordinary, every- day people are recognized and featured for their pas- sion in doing the work of the ministry, whether in villages, towns or cities. To the readers, these people become extraordinary. We see God at work all across our land. Tank you ChristianWeek for your faithfulness

Netherlands in 1950, and went on to a remarkable career as a social and political activist. His tenacity had a lasting impact and empowered many outstanding evangelical leaders.
