Calling Christians to talk Tribute

hile planning the 2010 global Interfaith Leaders Summit, I spoke with a senior Christian colleague in a European country

about the letter I’d sent inviting senior faith leaders around the world to come to Winnipeg for a religious summit to parallel the G8/G20 gatherings in Ontario. In it I’d asked leaders from many faiths and parts of the world

to confer with their colleagues and assemble delegations that repre- sented the faith perspectives of their regions and countries. His voice was perplexed, challenged and wistful. “But Karen,” he said, “You are asking us to talk to each other. We don’t do that well here!” Happy birthday, ChristianWeek! Tank you for 25 years of encour-

aging and inspiring conversation in the faith communities of Canada: 25 years of deep and engaging writing calling Christians to talk to each other and to our world. Tank you for a quarter century of faithful listening that transforms

Informative, thoughtful, constructive Tribute

ver the past 25 years ChristianWeek has been an important read for those wanting to keep abreast of the dynamics of evangelical-

ism in Canada. Developing a respected national newspaper for evan- gelicals was an immense task and we, the evangelical community, are the better for it. Covering a large country and identifying the stories that should

be told has required agility and discernment. Readers have been informed and challenged by the significant stories ChristianWeek told and helpful context it provided. Te coverage is always informative and the editorials thoughtful

and constructive, without shying away from controversial topics. Well done ChristianWeek.

active, challenging, mobile way weaves through the Christian reality in this country. Here’s to decades more! In Christ indeed! (1 Peter 4:12-14).
