In addition to these classes, we’ll have a special Civil War exhibit including photos and letters. On Monday, January 9 at 7pm, Grant Veeder will present “Lincoln as a War Leader” examining Lincoln’s involvement with the military and the importance of politics in waging the Civil War. On Thursday, January 26 at 7pm, David Connon from Living History Farms will


focus on five Iowa residents who chose to serve in the Confederacy, presenting “Iowans Who Fought Against the Union.” Genealogy Month is sponsored by the Kathryn Ray Fund at the Cedar Falls Civic


Foundation, Humanities Iowa, and the Friends of the Cedar Falls Public Library. Computer classes January – March include Mouse & Keyboarding Basics,


PowerPoint, Computer Maintenance, Selling on Ebay, Skype, Internet Searching, Scanning Basics, and Working with Digital Pictures. Classes are made possible by Black Hawk County Gaming Association, Friends of the Cedar Falls Public Library, and the Cedar Falls Civic Foundation.


Book Talk at the Library Attend every month, or drop in when the urge


hits you. On January 31, the Morning Group will discuss Cutting for Stone by Abraham Vergehse, at 10 a.m. On February 28 join them for The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. On January 3, join the Evening Group to discuss One Second After by William Forstchen at 7pm. On February 7, join the discussion on Brother’s Blood by Scott Cawelti. The Thursday Morning Book Talks have a


slightly different format, featuring local guest speakers. On January 6, Norma Caquelin, on February 23, Scott Cawelti, and on March 22 Mark Mortenson will talk about favorite books and reading.
