hristmas is over and the New Year has arrived.

My tree is down, my candy canes have been consumed, and the are decorations put away. Life is back to normal. But what is normal? Our

forefathers thought normal was graduating from school and entering college at the age of around 14. Most read their Bibles daily and it was normal to read the Bible from cover to cover every year. Many gave their lives and fortunes for the cause of freedom from tyranny and faced danger every day. Children were taught to work at a very young age and encouraged to act like adults in both their decorum and speech. * Today, normal is different.

We’ve made progress in the area of electronics, transportation, and affluence but we’ve lost part of what made America great... the Judeo-Christian heritage. We are more tolerant of other religions than we are Judaism or Christianity and we think children’s self esteem is more important than growing into adults. Our nation does not offer an education that can compete with other nations and we have come to no longer tolerating values (other than those of the ACLU) to be taught in our schools. And, very few read the Bible on a regular basis. This year I heard more uses

of ―Merry Christmas‖ than ―Happy Holidays‖ and it made me glad. Maybe it means that we are coming to the end of the absurd culture of political correctness and the giving up of our personal rights to those who feel victimized by our faith. This New Year we will

face trouble. We have an election coming that will either move our country away from the path it’s headed or towards a complete meltdown. First of all, those of us who have put our faith in Christ need to trust Him with this too and pray like never before that He will reveal what is going on and we will know what He wants us to do about it step by step. Since the last Presidential election, I’ve seen many Christians roused out of lethargy to repent for their sins and the sins of our

get sucked into the game, and end up not so great. (Good reason to have term limits.) Third, we all need to keep

learning. We’ve been lied to in school about our Founders, about the reason we declared our independence, and the role the church played and still must play in the health of this great country. Fourth, we must educate

our children. It is the parent’s responsibility to see their children get a good education that includes the basics and

nation. But we cannot put things right with one election. We are in a mess no man (or woman) can fix. We need the hand of God. Second, we all need to be

involved with the election process. When value voters cast their ballot, run for office, and donate to good candidates, our Nation is more healthy. (Value voters are those that look at the character of the person running for election, not just where they stand on economics.) The reason there is ―nobody good‖ to vote for is usually because the ―good‖ stay home. And the better candidates stay in office too long and make it a career,

reveals the truth of our history. Children need taught to take part in the arena as adults who know how to work hard, stand up for what is right, and aren’t taken in by ―experts‖ with an agenda. Yes, we are facing a critical

time in history, but we must not ignore it or deny our roles in it. We need everyone to take part.

* You can learn many things about our history and how to get involved now from David Barton’s new DVD series Building on the American Heritage. The information is eye- opening, but easy to understand and even a young teen can learn the information. Go to wallbuilders.com to order it.
