About the Report 7

The purpose of this Responsible Business Report is to help shareholders and other key stakeholders to understand, value and assess the operations of Carlson Hotels, Americas.

The purpose of this Responsible Business Report is to help shareholders and other key stakeholders to understand, value and assess the operations of Carlson Hotels, Americas. We have ongoing dialogue with our stakeholders and report what we consider to be of interest to those we deem key: employees, customers, property owners, suppliers, authorities, environment, community and society. The report describes the most material and relevant social and environmental sustainability aspects of our operations.

Scope and Boundaries. We have limited the reporting boundaries to areas in which we have full control over data collection and information quality. Downstream impacts are generally excluded as we do not at present have reliable measurement tools to reflect these. The numerical data stated in this report refers to the year 2010, unless otherwise stated. The scope of this report covers Carlson Hotels, Americas, providing examples from operations regardless

of brand. This means that examples include managed and franchised hotels in operation for the following brands unless otherwise stated:

• Radisson 138 • Country Inns & Suites By Carlson 471 • Park Plaza 1 • Park Inn by Radisson 9 Total 619

Routines for Monitoring. Starting in 2011, reporting is mandatory for managed hotels. The Responsible Business Status Report will be an annual reporting requirement, including environmental performance data (energy, water and waste) and other Responsible Business related targets as agreed to in their respective business plans.

Periodicity. It is our intention that a Responsible Business report will be made public on an annual basis.
