KNOWLEDGE

www.collinboglcom Detail and realism are hallmarks of your art what is key to achieving these?

Designing the composition using attributes such as dramatic lighting, contrast, color and depth of field all contribute to a realistic painting. I also achieve detail and realism by paying close attention to many reference photos.

What are the most important attributes for an artist to possess?

A passion for your chosen style of painting along with the subjects you paint. It's also good to be humble and able to except critique which can help you improve. What comprises your artists tool kit?

Watercolors, colored-pencils, water-based pastels, sharpeners, brushes, acrylics, soft pastels, airbrush, rag board, my computer with photoshop.

If inspiration is the foundation of creation, how does nature feed your artistic talents?

There so many amazing creations in this world. When I take time to study the beautiful intricate details of the animals and habitat I paint it's hard to leave them out.

On successfully selling your art, what advise do you have for aspiring artists?

It's not easy making money with art especially with todays economy. If you're lucky enough to be painting something that sells it helps to be involved in all parts of the art business including originals, prints and all forms of art licensing. getting hooked up with a good publisher and licensing agent is invaluable.

Where can the public view your art?

I participate in a few annual gallery miniature art shows in the US and Canada. Originals and prints are displayed in various galleries but the best place to view all of my art is my website: www.collinbogle.com
