“It’s fun, dynamic and you don’t really realise you’re working out”

weird at first, but after a few minutes with the beats blaring, you soon lose your inhibitions (whether you’re doing it in time to the music or not). Alex is right, it’s good fun, so you almost forget you’re doing exercise. There’s lots of air punching, gallops and heart pumping mixed in with clapping, bum shaking, jumping and sexy hand moves. It might sound like it’s not for the fainthearted, but because it’s a totally mixed bunch – from those that had every wiggle down pat, to those who got lost every once in a while (me included) – there’s a great sense of camaraderie. With short bursts of around 5-10 minutes per track, you get a minute or two to recover and glug some water, between routines. From what I can see it’s the perfect

form of exercise, you tone and sculpt your body while burning fat, without even realising it. It also helps, of course, that Charlotte

has seemingly boundless energy. It’s like a cross between an aerobics session and a dance class with some sexy Latin moves

And stretch... one of the quieter moments during the class

thrown in for good measure. There’s a real party atmosphere and she’s constantly checking everyone is getting involved but without being intimidating. Happily, you don’t get shouted at if you’re found slouching at the back. Would I do it again? Hell yeah! (Apologies, the enthusiasm is catching.) They’re also intent on spreading the

zumba word among the masses. If you’re wondering what 200-odd, pink-clad women were doing strutting their stuff in Old George Mall a couple of Saturday’s before Christmas, they’re were bringing the concept of the flash mob to Salisbury. Was Salisbury ready for them? The jury’s out, but everyone had great fun doing it. Not sure about zumba? There’s

stacks more to the Girls Love Fit bow, with everything from Pilates, mum and me classes, pole fitness to drop a dress- size ‘figure fit’ packages and bootcamp which will see you running around in Hudson’s Field

as well as partaking in studio-based sessions

in Churchfield’s for nutritional and lifestyle advice. Girls Love Fit

started last October with just one or two classes, which they managed to double

just a month later. And now they can do “bespoke fitness on demand,” explains Alex. “It’s fitness for women, by women.” So if 10 women in a certain area are interested in say zumba or Pilates for instance (or a bit of both), than the girls will do a six-week trial to see how it goes. They can keep it as a private class or make it general and advertise it through the website. With 15 years combined experience

in everything from personal training to holistic lifestyle and nutritional coaching (level 2); they’re also both specialists in pre and post natal classes, there’s no doubt Girls Love Fit know their stuff. And with more instructors getting on board as the months go by, there’s even more availability for classes; they’re pushing the brand out of the city centre to South Newton, Shrewton and Amesbury. Looking for a fun way to get fit without

the gym? Girls Love Fit will have you moving – or in my case, grooving – in no time. SL
