MAC Gymnastics Stars Shine at State
MAC GYMNASTS WON A THIRD OF THE TOP AWARDS AT THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MEET IN DECEMBER
A
record 19 girls on MAC’s compulsory gymnastics teams proved themselves champions at the Oregon state meet held December 3-4 in Beaverton. Together, the MAC gymnasts captured 33 first place medals at the event – a third of the top awards.
In addition to the individual wins, the Level 4 and 5 teams took home the top team trophy. The Level 6 team placed third, less than three tenths of a point away from the second place team.
“This year we had the highest number of MAC girls ever to place first at a state meet for compulsory gymnasts,” said Meg Doxtator, gymnastics department manager. “We are very proud of all of our teams and their accomplishments and are excited to watch these girls continue to progress in the future.”
First place finishes were possible in four events – balance beam, floor, vault, and bars – and also for the best all-around score, which is calculated by adding a gymnast’s individual event scores. More than 360 gymnasts from across the state competed across the three levels. MAC’s Level 4 state champions are Annabelle Arnston (beam and all around),

The MAC Open
The 29th annual edition of the MAC Open takes place Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19.
The event was created in 1983 when the new gymnastics arena was completed. Prior to the completion of the arena, staff and gymnasts hauled equipment out of storage in what is now the junior sports office, and practiced in what are now the East gyms.
The MAC Open attracts gymnasts from across the West Coast and as far away as Japan to compete in levels 4 through elite divisions.
