Let a Dog Pull You Around

By Elijah Brumback I

f you’ve never heard of the Iditarod, the largest and most famous dogsled race in the world, take the time to familiarize yourself with what

is often called “The Last Great Race on Earth.” Here in Michigan, dogsled races, while uncom-

mon, do exist with a passionate following for both sport and animals. At the Double JJ Ranch Resort, just 20 miles north of Muskegon, dogsled has become a year-round activity for guests. The ranch cares for three teams of eight dogs

and offers rides as well as classes that teach all the basic guiding skills. At any rate, you’ll be “gee-ing” and “haw-ing” until the sun

goes down. Perhaps one day you’ll find yourself with 1,150 miles ahead of

you, heading to Nome, Alaska, looking to break the current Iditarod record of eight days, 18 hours, 46 minutes and 39 seconds – either that or you’ll have found a new hobby. n

Happy New Year!!! This year…

We don’t think you should change a thing.

Ok… maybe ONE thing. Call us.
