Sports Talk
Although the Sports rally at Bitteswell 2011 was not well attended we still ran all the events as planned, the children had a fantastic time in the triathlon of events. Running, Swimming and Cycle Cross, this year we are adding to the list the Junior boules competition. At the 2011 National at Sledmere House, we entered into nearly all the teams events, some got
knocked out in the first round and others went on to the finals; a good time was had by all and my thanks must go to not only the participants but also the spectators who stood out in all weathers to give their support. The children who entered the races won the overall event for the fourth year; I would like to thank them on behalf of the Centre for the enthusiasm and determination, which will be talked about for a long time to come. At the Inter Centre at Brooksby College, as well as hosting the event, the children of the Centre
members excelled and we won the Alf Chapman Trophy. All the team events did well but we missed picking up the Bill Peck Trophy. Perhaps with your help we can do it this year and bring home both trophies. This event will take place over the weekend of 15th to17th of June 2012 at Grantham Rugby Club. DON’T FORGET – when booking information for the National arrives YOU need to book your children
in for the races with the organisers. My thanks must go to all the team managers for their hard work and determination with the teams and
I must also thank all those who took the time to referee matches at last year‟s events. Team practises for 2012 will be taking place at Bitteswell on 18th to 20th May along with the Centre
Sports, the Swimming Gala/Fun Swim, Junior Boules and Cycle Cross. This is where the Team Managers will assess the teams they have for the forthcoming events, so please make every effort to attend.

Points and plaques will be awarded at the Children‟s Sports event.

Points Awarded: 3 for 1st place, 2 for 2nd place, 1 for 3rd place. The points awarded at the Centre Sports to determine the winners of the John Evans and Leslie Gibbins Cups. All cups will be presented at the AGM.
The John EvansCupwill be presented to the boywho scores themost points at the Centre Sports event. The Leslie Gibbins Cup will be presented to the girl who scores most points at the Centre Sports event.
