Once again, with the permission of Fr. John Michalowski, Pastor of Saints Mary and Joseph Parish in Salem, and with the help of the Salem Knights of Columbus, there will be a Christmas Dinner from 12:30– 3:30 p.m. for all who are alone and would like companionship, friendship and a nice hot meal. Please bring your family and friends. The dinner will feature turkey with all the trimmings, and will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 37 Main Street, Salem. Reservations are necessary so the committee can plan, so please call 571-9381 or 479-3612. You may also call the Parish Office at 893-8661 to make a reservation. If you need a ride, one will be provided. Please make sure to leave your name and phone number when you call for a reservation, so we can contact you. Dessert donations are very much appreciated. If you cannot attend, we can make arrangements to deliver to those who live in Salem.


Tuesday, January 3 The Supervisors of the Checklist of Salem will be in session from 7-8 p.m. on the lower level of the Municipal Office Building. Residents of Salem who will be age 18 or older by January 10, 2012


may register to vote at this session with acceptable documentation, if they wish their name to appear on the voter checklist which will be used at the Presidential Primary scheduled for January 10, 2012. A picture ID and proof of domicile is required (drivers licenses are acceptable). Naturalized citizens must show documented citizenship papers or a US passport. Following this session no new additions or corrections to current data may be made until the Presidential Primary. For those who wish to confirm their voter status, there are copies of the checklist available to view at the Kelley Library and the Town Clerk’s Office.


Thursday, January 19 The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the Salem Knights of Columbus Hall, 37 Main Street, from 1-7 p.m. All eligible and new blood donors are encouraged to give blood. Donors


are needed every day to make sure there is an adequate blood supply for patients in need. Thank you for giving the gift of life!


Friday, January 20 Pine Tree Quilt Shop 224 North Broadway, Salem Marketplace, Salem, is hosting a Neighbors Helping Newborns Workshop from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Bring your sewing machine and sewing basket tools to help sew Memory Envelopes for families of


babies who do not survive. Call Dina at 603-870- 8100 to reserve a seat. Light refreshments will be served. Neighbors Helping Newborns, a 501(C)3 non-profit, provides necessities to premature and newborn babies. Volunteers sew and/or knit quilts, blankets, hats, sweaters, and other necessary baby items. We deliver thousands of handmade and donated baby care items and clothing yearly to hospitals in MA and NH which are given free of charge to families in need. Thursday, January 5 The Kelley Library will hold a Book-To- Movie Night at 6:30 p.m. Movies selected for this year’s monthly movie nights are films adapted from popular books. The Kelley Library is starting the season off with The Help, based on the novel by Kathryn

Starting Wednesday, January 11 Are you a teen who always wanted to learn to Hip Hop? Well, now you can! The Salem Boys and Girls Club will be offering free Hip Hop Classes to its Eclipse Teen Center members starting January 11. Classes will be held on


Mondays from 4-5 p.m. and on Fridays from 3-4 p.m. in the Teen Center classroom. If you are not a member of the Eclipse Teen Center and would like to become one, you can sign up for an annual fee. With your membership, you can have access to the tech center, fitness programs, swimming programs and gym activities. Our Teen Center is available to kids in grades 6-12.
