The Hed Kandi brand is synonymous with clubbing, and following success at a Clapham site, the brand has now opened a flagship bar in Brighton. Middlesex Sound and Light were in charge of working with the architects to create a lighting and video solution utilising a wide range of LED static and moving fixtures to further enhance the public spaces. MSL Senior Project Manager, Darrel Olivier, working with the architectural designers Julian Taylor Associates, developed a comprehensive architectural and moving light solution involving over 600m linear metres of high output LED tape, 80 driver box controllers for the LED tape, 50 MR16 LED TRI colour down lighters and 4 compact Chauvet QSPOT 260 LED moving head fixtures. A further 4 Chauvet QSPOT 160 LED heads project behind the DJ and also in the area at the rear of the venue. The bespoke Hed Kandi logo within the DJ booth was also illuminated using Abstract AVR link LED high output units to constantly wash colour across the logo. Manchester’s favourite dance event, The

Warehouse Project, is a temporary event that sees some of the biggest names in techno descend on the Store Street Car Park below Piccadilly Station in the city centre. For the fifth year running, lighting

has been supplied by Manchester based lighting rental company dbn. Each year the lighting design is essentially the same with a few tweaks and updates. The moving lights in the main room are a mix of Clay Paky and Martin, including CP Alpha Spot HPE 575s, Alpha Beam 700s and Alpha Wash 300s, together with Martin MAC 250 Entours. Sixteen active Sunstrips are used to create interesting effects running along the dancefloor, another four Alpha Beam 700s and two Alpha Spot HPE 575s are available for deployment on the stage as and when needed. LED manufacturer i-Pix have also supplied BB2X2’s for the main room.
