hen holding a function in Chapter One’s private dining room, its not just choosing what to eat and drink which is the dilemma. There are a choice of starters, mains and desserts and the hosts choose three starters, three mains and three desserts for their guests to prechoose from. Menus range between £24.95 - £45.00 for three courses plus coffee and petit fours.


Chapter One’s private room can hold from between 20 and 55 guests and is situated on the fi rst fl oor of the building with its own private bar, cloakroom and toilets. Andrew McLeish, Chapter One’s Executive Chef, prepares the award winning food. Chapter One holds one Michelin star and four AA rosettes and is in the top 25 restaurants in the entire UK. We spoke to Cheryl Almond who is the Private Dining Room Co-ordinator about the sorts of questions that guests often don’t think about. As Chapter One offers a bespoke service and as every function is different it is very important that all these important details are gone through with the client: Arrival time? Will you be arriving before your guests? Which drinks do you want for your reception? – here’s a choice of a few Champagne reception, with or without the bar to be open for any other drinks ordered. Wine reception with or without the bar to be open for any other drinks ordered or the bar to be open so people can choose whatever drink they like. Cash bar (i.e. guests pay for their own drinks)


How long would you like for your reception drinks - the average is 1⁄2 hour before dining? Your meal

Do you want the wine to carry on being served after the meal has fi nished? Do you want the bar to stay open after the meal has fi nished? Are you having a formal seating plan? We type up the seating plan and write all the place cards. Would you like a message to be added on your menu, i.e. ‘Welcome and thank you for joining us on the celebration of..?


Dine in the unique surroundings of this spacious yet romantic restaurant. A large and varied classic dishes menu includes: rack of lamb, T-bone and fillet steaks, steak diane, fresh mussels, seabass, Dover sole, lobster, pasta, vegetarian choices and real Italian ice creams.

What sort of music do you want played? We have a mixed selection of gentle background music, i.e. classical, jazz etc but you are welcome to bring your own CD’s or ipod, remember the music cannot be too loud! The music sets the mood Are you having a cake?


Are we providing it or you are welcome to provide your own. If it is a birthday – is the cake a surprise – when would you like it served with a Champagne toast or with coffee?
