As an Independent School, Essendene follows the National Curriculum but its staff have the freedom to teach and inspire the pupils in other ways. Year 6 pupils are prepared for the Common Entrance 11+ Examinations and have an exceptionally high success rate, with many of the pupils gaining scholarships to local Independent and Grammar Schools. The staff at Essendene believe that happy and secure children
learn far more. The warm, friendly atmosphere and strong sense of community help provide the perfect environment for the pupils to thrive and realise their potential. Go and see for yourself – they look forward to seeing you.

6 The Tutorial Foundation tutorialfoundation
At some time, most parents will worry that their child is not doing as well as they could in school. This could be for various reasons such as difficulty with reading or working independently, struggling to keep up with the class, or perhaps they are bored at school because they seem to be finding the work too easy. The Tutorial Foundation caters for all children from the age of 5+ to A Level, whether they are struggling in school, sitting entrance examinations for the 11+, 13+ or other independent school examinations, or are taking GCSE, IGCSE, I.B. or A Level courses. As well as covering the basic school curriculum, the Foundation is also able to help with handwriting and presentation skills, and interview technique for entrance examinations or university applications. It caters for students who wish to learn English as a Foreign Language and can also carry out assessments, consultation and tuition for children with Special Educational Needs. For older pupils tuition is offered for those retaking GCSE and
A Levels. It is possible for pupils to sit their examinations at The Tutorial Foundation as we are also a registered Examinations Centre. Tuition can be arranged on a regular basis or just throughout the school holidays. Children from the age of 5+ to GCSE will be assessed initially
before commencing tuition which can take place daily, weekly or fortnightly depending on the results of the assessments. The Tutorial Foundation has been established for over 35 years and is British Council approved.
