Dunottar School... where girls aim for the stars and reach them!
“EXCELLENT, sometimes inspiring teaching”, “overall achievements of pupils are excellent”, “Governance, leadership and management is outstanding”, “excellent personal development of the girls”.
These were some of the comments made during our inspection in
March 2011. Our single sex environment allows the girls to face challenges with confidence and conviction. They are passionate about getting to grips with their academic learning and life skills to equip them in a competitive and challenging world.
The school provides supportive care, encouragement and celebration when they achieve their potential. We all know that life in the outside world is changing fast.
As parents, you want your daughters to be successful in the paths
they choose after school, and you want us to provide good quality teaching, and the encouragement to aim high, but you also want us to provide the caring atmosphere, and nurturing environment that will give every girl, whatever her ability, the confidence to achieve her dreams.
The Dunottar ethos is: every girl, whatever her strengths, is enabled, encouraged and supported to reach for her personal star.
Discovering the potential of each
individual pupil
Caterham School believe that this statement defines the essence of the school.
Headmaster Julian Thomas said: “We believe that a truly excellent education is about more than academic achievement alone. We are a forward thinking school that focuses on developing the whole person, aiming to ensure that each pupil leaves here ready for life at university and beyond. “We do not simply prepare pupils to do their best in exams, we help each pupil to understand how to think independently. We train pupils in information skills so that they understand how to make best use of reading skills and research techniques.“ Caterham School has a reputation for excellent academic results. All students progress to university with 83% going to one in the top tier including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, LSE and UCL. As a day and boarding school, a wide range of enrichment and co- curricular activities are on offer, enabling students to develop their skills and interests. There are around forty clubs and societies, eighteen sports and twenty different music groups. There is continued investment in the future. In 2006, a new science block and dining hall was built and in 2008 the new, well equipped Sixth Form Centre was completed.
