TidyTavy Day - A Sweeping Success!

The second TidyTavy day saw many familiar faces from the first meeting and some new people as well!

With the great weather 22

volunteers collected 30 bags brimming with litter. Starting in Pixon Lane, the volunteer groups moved onto the car parking area by Kings squash club. This was very bad where the area seems to have used as a dumping ground for some larger items such as old tyres. Another group set out to Crowndale (where the first

TidyTavy litter pick was held) to maintain all the hard work done only a month ago, continuing around the school and canal path, along the track to Brook Lane and the football field area.

Due to the massive amount of litter picked up around the Kings area, Phil Jarman, a local business man, assisted the Group by collecting heavy bags of rubbish in his 4 wheel drive and taking them to the collection point. The Group would like to send many thanks to Phil as this made the

difficult task of moving so much rubbish a lot less challenging! With interest growing in the community to band together to help keep Tavistock a great place to live, several members of the public expressed their interest on seeing the Group picking litter and said they would be keen to help next time. TidyTavy Day was also mentioned on Radio Devon, with Pamela Steele highlighting the great work of all the volunteers and giving lots of encouragement for the next litter pick.
