✔ Take your Christmas tree to a recycling centre or check if the council will remove it.


✔ Firm in shrubs and trees whose roots may have been lifted by frost.


✔ Clear out sheds to ensure everything’s ready for action in the spring & clean and lubricate tools


✔ Keep containers near to walls, which act as storage radiators when it’s really cold.


✔ Check stored fruit and veg and remove any showing signs of disease.


✔ Replenish bird feeders and baths regularly to ensure birds do not go hungry or thirsty.


✔ Bring pots of forced bulbs inside for flowering when ready.


✔ Put cloches in position to warm the soil for early sowings of vegetables in March.


✔ Plan your summer bedding scheme so that seed orders can be made as soon as possible.


✔ Order herbaceous perennials from nursery catalogues now for delivery and planting in spring.


✔ Clear up debris which might be hiding slugs and snails.
