Books, birds and all 44 presidents are the stars of the first quarter offerings of 2012 at Childsplay. Tickets for the Childsplay performances of “With Two Wings,” “Rock the Presidents” and “Tomás and the Library Lady” go on sale Mon., Dec. 19. “With Two Wings” runs Jan. 22 through Feb. 5 and is recommended for patrons 6 years and older. Lyf’s parents have kept him safe in their nest and have not let him learn to fly when into Lyf’s world burst a hilarious pair of fast-talking twins who have snuck away from “flock” school on a quest for adventure. The rollicking, multi-media-filled musical revue spanning all 223 years of the American presidency, “Rock the Presidents” will run Feb. 12 through March 4. Recommended for ages 7 and older, this production is made up of stories of the 44 men who rose to the highest office in the land and are brought to life through all- new rock, pop and folk music.
The other show for which tickets will be on sale is the April 7 to 15 performances of “Tomás and the Library Lady.” Tomás’ grandfather tells stories every night during the summer when the family leaves Texas to pick crops in Iowa, but soon Tomás knows all the stories by heart. That’s when Papa Grande tells him about the library. When Tomás meets the library lady, nothing is ever the same again. Tickets range from $15-25, not including service or convenience fees. Discounts for students, seniors and purchases of 10 or more tickets are available. All performances are in the Studio at the Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe.
