TE: I encourage people who are scared or worried to relax, trust, and take the leap of faith to experience this ancient healing art used by millions worldwide. If my patients feel nervous or anxious, I take extra time to walk them through the process step-by-step. If they are ever un- comfortable, I stop immediately. I use a guide tube, so typically, once the first needle is inserted, they often say, “Is that it?!” The pressure of the guide tube on the skin travels to the brain faster than the pain of the needle insertion, so the pain does not register in the brain.
Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
NS: I was very skeptical before my acupuncture training as I was used to only conventional western medicine. However, when confronted by the prospect of surgery some twenty years ago, I tried acupuncture and immediately overcame my skepticism when surgery was no lon- ger required. So I can personally relate to anyone who is a little cau- tious, but what’s the downside? Only time and a little money spent… and you may be surprised by the results!
TE: I attended a naturopathic medical school for three years before switching my focus to acupuncture. This extensive medical training sets me apart from many other local acupuncturists as it’s allowed me to incorporate all of these modalities into my practice including homeopathy, western botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, massage, nutrition, stress management techniques and vitamin/mineral sup- plementation. I am very comfortable speaking with medical doctors and understanding their theories, approaches, diagnostics and treat- ments.
