A Typical Daily Schedule for the Student

One-half day is spent at the home school for the required academic credits. One-half day (3 hours) is spent at the Career Center in laboratory learning and related class experi- ences. (CVCC programs often include embed- ded academic courses, as well. See page 6.) Generally, first year students attend CVCC in the morning and second year students attend in the afternoon.

Transportation to Cuyahoga Valley Career Center

Each local high school provides bus transportation for the students attending the Career Center. Studentsmay also apply for a permit to drive or ride as a passenger with another student.

Importance of Attendance 

 

Because CVCC classes meet for three hours per day, missing one day at CVCC is equivalent to missing four regular 45 minute class periods.

Attendance is one of the most important qualities employers consider when hiring.

Attendance is one of the criteria used to determine if and when a student may be eligible for the Early Job Placement Paid Internship Program.

Returning to Full-Time Home School Schedules

Students should make every effort to base their Career Center program choice on personal goals, interests and abilities to avoid the disruption caused by returning to full-time, home school schedules after the school year has started. However, should such a need arise, a change will be considered only after discussion with parents, counselors and the Career Center instructor. Home school policy may also affect the decision.
