Healthy Bones For All Australians
Osteoporosis is a disease causing bone fragility leading to fractures, disability, isolaon, and somemes death. Over a million Australians are living with osteoporosis, and 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men over 60 will develop a fracture. Over 5 million people have osteopenia (low bone density) a potenal precursor to osteoporosis and this is expected to increase with an ageing populaon.
Osteoporosis Australia is a naonal not-for-profit and is the premier consumer body for osteoporosis. Our aim is to bring awareness, educaon and advocacy to this disease. We are commied to supporng and funding research into prevenon, diagnosis and management with the input of some of Australia’s leading experts on our medical and scienfic commiee.
Our mission is to reduce the incidence of osteoporosis and osteoporoc fractures, so that all Australians can have healthy bones and keep their independence.
