People in our culture today are searching for community, for some common connection. In a world where separation, competition, distrust and fear are being marketed to us along with the hope of finding safety and security in some accumulated protective product or attitude, what a sigh of relief when we find a connection with someone. It can be as simple as one of those moments when a smile and hello changes your day, or as complex and profound as when you “accidently” meet someone or a group of “someones” whose values, ideas and interests give you the feeling that you have come home. We are all hungry for connections and we go to great lengths to find them: from the unifying excitement of a Phillies game to flying across country to gather with other people involved in this wonderful teaching of ours. Many find it right here at home in the Greater Philadelphia Center for Spiritual Living. We are a community who knows that beneath every appearance to the contrary there is a unifying presence; a connection that goes to the very essence of who and what we are. We know that in a universe of oneness we are all connected. At our core and center, we are ONE. “Connections” is one opportunity for us to communicate and develop a greater sense of the community that we already are. It is a vehicle for sharing our accomplishments and expressions. It is a way for us to acknowledge the truth of our Oneness. When you find yourself feeling disconnected and separate, I trust this paper will be a reminder that you are not alone. You are never really disconnected and this group stands ready to remind you and support you as you rediscover that you are home. - by Reverend Bob Deen
