Cougar Football Stars Receive State Awards
by Marc Ayotte A total of seven Campbell High football players received state recognition for their efforts on the gridiron this past fall. The awards were presented to the Cougar athletes during the football team’s annual banquet, which was held at the Puritan Restaurant in Manchester, on Sunday, December 11. According to head coach Marc Prindiville, three Cougar players were named as Division V first team All Stars. On the offensive side of the ball, the award went to running back John Houston and wide receiver Jesiah Wade. For his defensive efforts, Dylan Andrews also received all-state recognition. Rounding out the state issued awards, there were four players who received honorable mention; defensive back Sean Gray, defensive end Charles Nield, offensive guard Aaron Repole and another offensive guard Garrett Sahlin. With nearly 160 players, coaches and parents attending the banquet, team awards were also presented. John Houston received the award for Offensive Player of the Year, as the senior fullback punished defenders all year long on his way to gaining nearly 800 yards, while rushing for 12 touch downs. Dylan Andrews received the Defensive MVP Award, due largely to his 51 solo tackles on the season (in on 67 total) and his two INTs. With the Cougars graduating 14 players from this year’s team, coach Prindiville has played an integral role in increasing the exposure of his seniors’ athletic talents and scholastic

Prindiville spends a significant amount of time listing his players stats, GPA and other pertinent information onto a ‘college prep’ website which is used to showcase high school athletes. College coaches view this site to seek out ‘future prospects’ that might fit the needs of their respective programs. Enjoying a great amount of success with his efforts, Prindiville indicated that several college coaches have already inquired about and have even visited with this past season’s star seniors. Among the institutions of higher education that have visited the CHS coach and his players are Maine Maritime, Norwich University (Vermont), Springfield College (MA) and Trinity College, located in Hartford. With interviews and visits from the various colleges continuing,
two Cougar players have already received their respective appointments; John Houston at the Naval Academy and Chuck Nield for West Point.
