HOORAY FOR HARTNELLS


Award-winning family-run butchers and bakery Hartnell Fresh Foods in Exeter’s Longbrook Street has won yet more accolades. The Hartnells team were named regional champions for their steak and Stilton pasty made by David the baker, their hog roast pasty won gold for the second year running, their lamb and mint pasty won silver and their ploughman’s sausages and Mexican chilli sausages won bronze. Hartnell Fresh Foods is run by Emma and Kevin Hollamby, and the awards were given out by industry body Bpex. Emma said: “We’re feeling really proud of all our staff and it’s great to be recognised for our efforts.” The shop also hosted a fundraising day in aid of the Billie Butterfly Fund which raised over £400 for Billie Bainbridge from St Leonard’s who has an inoperable brain tumour and needs help to pay for her treatment. · www.hartnellfreshfoods.com

n A newly-refurbished gym has opened at Exeter Golf and Country Club after a £150,000 refit.


It features state-of-the-art gym equipment offering the latest in toning, cardio and resistance training, plus a new free-weights area. The new equipment can be programmed for each individual gym member, providing them tailor-made programmes and monitoring their progress. Members can also log in from home to review their workout afterwards.
