4 GENERALS

Barry Rimler The Crimson Cowboys went undefeated

in the Fall Softball League to win the fall championship. The championship came down to the

fi nal game of the season and pitted the undefeated Cowboys against the undefeated White Sox, a team that, going into the game, had never been beaten. In the seven-inning game, the White Sox led 5-4 going into the 7th. With bases loaded, Gary Lester hit a grand slam home run and the Cowboys went on to score 15 runs in the 7th. But the White Sox never gave up. They

scored eight runs in the bottom of the 7th and, with two on, hit a ball to left center that Bob Collins made a diving catch and came up with the third out. Final score: 19-13. The Cowboys owe a debt of gratitude to

the other seven teams because we needed 2-5 subs for every game (we only had 10 players for the 11 positions) and we had subs from every team at one time or another. We want to thank Bob Hoffenberg of the Red Hots, Bruce Horeftis and Paul Neal of the Blue Sox, Tom Tarczon and Steve Pratt of the Renegades, Paul Vargo and Kelly Petre of the White Sox, Maury Fine and Carlos Muniz of the Black Sheep, and of course Bob Collins of the Yellow Jackets. Without the help of subs from the other teams we would have

had to forfeit at least half the games and play nine in two others. Our undefeated season was more than a team effort. It was a League effort. An effort to

have fun and enjoy playing softball with each other, even if it meant giving another team the opportunity to win a championship. All the Cowboys want to thank everyone

involved for a fun season of softball and camaraderie, and we hope that even more Robson residents decide to come out to the old ball park this spring and PLAY BALL! 
