Passaconaway Chapter of the National Honor Society held its 2011 Induction Ceremony on December 1. Speeches were given by Chapter Officers, President John Houston, Vice President Alex Bonneau, Secretary Jenn McLaughlin, Treasurer John Cialek, and Historian Bionka Pouliot. Also welcoming new members were current members which included Brianna Charette, Ashley Gannon, Lucas Dube, Shannon Lavigne, Kyle Munn, Charles Neild III and Laura Towne.

Jessica Belzil, Kevin Gallagher, Travis Manning, Stephanie McGregor and Jake Orlando. Junior Inductees include Meghan Connor, Molly Connor, Andrea Demos, Kaitlyn Gannon, Rachel Jozitis, Kattie Kierstead, Christine Lepore, Justin Prindle, Jenelle Psaledas and Zachary Waggoner. Each new member received a certificate, membership card and a pin from Chapter Advisor Meredith Potter, Principal Robert Manseau and Assistant Principal Laurie Rothhaus.

At the height of the storm, more than 40 state roads and over 250 local roads were closed or severely restricted due to downed power lines and debris. Some 122 elementary and secondary schools were closed statewide, many for several days. A total of twelve shelters and six


warming stations were opened during the storm. The storm also knocked out power to approximately 300,000 utility customers, leaving many without power for up to a week. The storm’s damage was compounded by the fact it occurred less than 60 days after Tropical Storm Irene caused significant damage across New Hampshire.
