A Message from the Dean


this faculty was nationally recognized, but even then I did not fully understand the scope of our scholarly imprint. This faculty, both brilliant and diverse, takes very seriously the section of the school’s mission statement that says, “It is essential that the faculty be involved in national and global research and scholarship.”

In 2010, the faculty’s scholarly endeavors produced numerous awards and recognition, including invitations for members of the UNM law faculty to share their expertise at symposia from the White House to Switzerland. Faculty publications have included books, book chapters, academic articles and commentary in media outlets.


While everyone in this community knows of the faculty’s devotion to our students, the following pages provide a snapshot of our professors’ scholarly engagement and research during the 2010 calendar year. I think you will be pleased about the vibrant culture of scholarship that continues M School of Law
