ell, we’re now into the Christmas countdown so welcome to our last edition of the magazine for 2011. Our front page picture shows visitors to the
fireworks display at Wroxham FC’s ground. We’ve also caught up with Hoveton-based fundraiser Annie Slater, who has been jazzing and jamming as well as other events for many years for good causes. We’ve also got news of a change in venue for the local chess club and of plans for the future of flying at the former RAF Coltishall. As always, we’re keen to hear your news and views to stay in touch over Christmas and the New Year and a happy 2012 to you all.

GCSE art students have spent two Thursday evenings drawing and painting sunflowers as part of looking at other artists’ work. Artists under scrutiny included Van Gogh, Schiele and O’Keeffe. They discussed composition and the use of negative space before scaling up their drawings to fill big canvasses. Having washed in their initial colours, they are now building up their colour in glazes to achieve a lustrous finish. The finished pieces will count towards the students’ GCSE grades and if augmented by further study should contribute significantly towards their final grade. A display of the finished pieces will be arranged in the school.
