“Thumbs up to the Hudson mom and son

who did a wonderful job picking up trash along Windham Road. Thank you!”

“Thumbs down to those who throw trash out of their cars without any consideration for their fellow residents and their town. This trash does not magically disappear!”

“Thumbs down. This is in response to the woman who’s dog got shot on Musquash Road during hunting season. I, myself, am not a hunter but I have a friend in upstate NY who has a dog and he keeps his dog in the house during the day for the simple fact that he might get shot even though he’s black and white. Hunters see a dog and the dogs scare the deer away, so a hunter will shoot that dog on purpose sometimes. So keep that dog in the house during the day, while it’s still legal to hunt in this town. But I agree, they aught to take hunting out to the wilderness.”

“Thumbs up for a very kind Hudson Mailman that delivers over to the Charles Street apartment building. He is a very kind mailman, and he stopped in his trail of delivery while it was getting late in the afternoon on a Saturday, and he gave me my mail early so that I could pay my bills before my cable and electricity was shut off. I was able to make it to the bank in time. I forget his name, but he was a very kind mailman. Thank you.”

“Thumbs down to Hudson~Litchfield News for their lean snow contest. Years ago, the winner got a check from them for $250. Why call it a contest when some companies only advertise or offer 1/2 off. Why is this a contest?”

With Coupon “Thumbs up to the magnificent cast and crew

of Thoroughly Modern Millie! This Campbell High School musical production was incredibly challenging, but the hard work and dedication of the students was exemplary. The finished product was a delight for the audiences all weekend. Your director was and is very, very proud of you.”

“Thumbs down to the driver of the Hudson

Highway Dept. street sweeper on 11/22, who was as much out of control as Kevin Burns with the waste removal contract, I was stopped at a red light and he came up behind me, wildly blowing his horn, to run the red light, so he could get by! Didn’t know they are allowed to run red lights just because they are in the sweeper, I guess it is to be expected when the attitude comes from the top down!”

“Thumbs up to Dr. Slava and Colleen for taking

such good care of me when my tooth wouldn’t cooperate, Thank You so much!”

“Thumbs down to Hudson NH School Board asking for another property tax increase to pay health insurance increases for school employees that are paid too much. Some school employees are paid between $60,000-$116,000 yearly and that doesn’t include their benefits! Some of these of these employees are food service workers/ guidance counselors/music coordinators/gym teachers/ administrative assistants/ principals and there are many more! Where else can you get 2-3 months off in the summer and still bring in a nice paycheck! Why don’t the superintendents

“Thumbs down to the hunters wife? The only thing I can agree with you regarding this incident is yes my dog will go out with much more orange than his collar. But I’m glad my husband didn’t have him on his leash because if he did your husband probably would have shot him too with the way he shoots. If my husband hadn’t stepped out on to the path your husband would have taken off. He even admitted to the police that he knew he shot a dog. The scariest part of all is he had a scope on his gun and still shot the dog seeing his entire profile. Big difference between a chocolate lab who stands 30” at 90 pounds compared to a deer.”

“Thumbs up to the Hudson PD Maintenance Custodian, Dan Clarke. Keep up the hard work! It is important to the police department employees and the citizens of Hudson. Thank you!”

“Thumbs down, in response to the thumbs about irresponsible dog owners. I, as a responsible hunter and dog owner, was appalled at this comment. First rule of hunting is: know your target. I, myself, in the many years of hunting have never seen a dog that looked like a deer!!!

“Thumbs down! To The Hudson NH School Board, for replacing their white boards in all Hudson NH schools every 2 years! These boards should last close to 10 years, with properly cleaned! Why is School Board Wasting the tax payers money and purchasing new white boards for all class room’s every 2 years? Stop the waste of town paid resources! This is not the time to ask for handouts, from struggling families, seniors and young people just starting out! Manage your school board budget and stop asking for increases paid for by town residents!”

And when I fire my weapon I know exactly what I am shooting at and what is around and behind my intended target. Remember, you are responsible for that bullet or arrow when you fire that weapon. This just shows how intelligent you and the shooter of that dog really are!!!!! And you should have your hunting license and any weapon you own seized from you!! You are a danger to the people of Hudson with that kind of thinking. Regardless of whether there is a leash law in this town, remember rule #1: know your target before you kill someone!! People like you only screw things up for responsible people like me. PS- get a clue!!!!!”

“Thumbs up - I am with all of those who have posted that this column is getting out of hand. It is sad that our towns have such nasty people who would post things about others, then continue to squabble in this forum for weeks on end. Hudson-Litchfield News, can you turn over a new leaf with this column for the new year??? Why do you find it necessary to provide a place to vent. Often, I wonder if people who would like to live in Hudson, upon looking through this paper, change their minds about moving here. There is a character limit per post. Why does that not apply to everyone??”

“Thumbs up, way up, to each

and every individual who has put their time, talent, and energy into the revival of Benson Park. It is absolutely beautiful and you all should be very proud of yourselves. A million thanks for a stellar transformation!”

“Thumbs down to the garbage that has been sitting in Jetty field for over a month and to many Hudson Highway trucks driving right by it! The dumpster was taken away after we were still playing games and now it’s a

mess! Benson’s isn’t the only park in town!” “Thumbs down to the person on Musquash.

For your information there is a large population of game in this area. Why do you think hunters are able to purchase a second deer tag only in this area. Second, there is a huge hunting area in the state forest that extends to the power lines with no houses for thousands of yards, law is only 300 ft. from any dwelling. Third, we are not allowed to hunt with rifles in this area,

week!! How about a little reverence and respect for what the season is truly about?!”

“Thumbs down to comment: ‘NH Retirement System that allows firefighters to average $79K retirement pensions at age 55’. Our firefighters have nightmares of dismemberment of children (and others) screaming in pain from car accidents, people who’s skin is bubbling and burning from a fire, old and young adults who commit suicide that our firefighters have to retrieve-some there for weeks, bodies decomposing, that are dredged from water. Need I go on? Would you even dare run into a burning home or building? They never know if they will make it out alive. Who deserves it more upon retiring? ‘What a country!’ you stated. Try a different one.”

“Thumbs down to the Hunters wife. Set up an

eye appointment for that trigger happy Coward. Does he also put road kill in the family car. A real hunter drives a truck. Leaving the scene of a shot dog in the woods. sounds like you have a winner there. As a hunter and a responsible adult, ah never mind you couldn’t relate.”

“Thumbs up to the newest member of the

Litchfield Board of Selectmen. It’s fun watching you talk out of both sides of your mouth. I think I will send a copy of a selectmen’s meeting to Jeff Dunham. I here he is looking for ideas for a new character. Remember talking out of both ends is what caused you to be driven out of the fire chiefs job. As it turns out, that was the best thing that could have happened for the department, the current chief has moved the department light years ahead. (Without even taking one of your famous tax payer funded annual ‘Chiefs Trips’.”

“Thumbs up to the Biscuit Bus. You’re the best

in town!!” “Thumbs up! To my great kids... Jordan,

Kayleigh & Michael, I love you guys.... Dad.” “Thumbs down to the tree company that is

leaving tree logs all over the side of the road in Hudson. You would think the town or electric company would require this to be cleaned up when they are done.”

only shotguns with slugs or buck shot so the bullet does not travel a mile, right! And cheats, your are obvious misinformed. And fourth, go upstate, what?? My grandfather hunted these woods for over fifty years and others for much longer. Your over eagerness to blame every hunter for a unfortunate accident is the problem. And the only heartbreak is people like you.”

“Thumbs up to Matty! Way to go with straight

A’s. High Honors is quite an achievement and with your full schedule—we are just amazed at how you juggle it all! To say we are proud is an understatement! Keep up the great work. Love you! Mom ~”

“Thumbs down to yet another HLN-sponsored,

civics PSA. Maybe it’s you that should realize that some people, just trying to help, moved branches cut by line crews, taking the time to neatly stack them, limb side out, only to have them passed over by the cleanup because they were 61 inches from the street. It’s always great to try to do something nice, only to have the town and you try to tell us we’re not doing our part. That’s our thank you.”

out of money” - Officials at the Congressional Budget Office

“Thumbs up to HPD. Your presence at Walmart on Black Friday was reassuring.”

“Thumbs down to ‘Black Friday’. How did we go from religious holiday to retail frenzy?!! Think about it– is there anything that you really need that bad? If you truly think so… you should look up the definition of the word ‘need’. The stores are opening earlier and earlier, which means that anyone who works in retail cannot fully enjoy their Thanksgiving or travel to see family. People are pushy to the point of needing police protection! And for what? So that you can save a few bucks? Obtain that ‘one of only ten in stock’? Guess what… the stores have sales all through the month and the stock will be replenished next

“Thumbs down to the HMS custodians. HMS is extremely dirty. And I’m not just talking about the classrooms (this I saw during parent/teacher conferences). The hallways have spider webs all over them and you can barely see out of the window because they are so dirty. What are you doing when you’re supposed to be working? What are my tax

dollars going towards? I think the school board/ SAU need to look into this.”

“Thumbs

down to JB, Director of the LRBL, for concentrating on fielding

the 6th grade Travel Basketball for your son and 9 of his friends, instead of setting up the Rec leagues first. You have left the other 40 to 50 boys without a recreational basketball program this winter. My son and many other 6th grade boys look forward to playing Rec basketball during the winter months. Your lack of leadership and communication skills are evident.”

“Thumbs down. Complaining the HLN is spreading bad news about Hudson. This paper only helps the citizens of this town to voice their opinions and sorrows. We have a broken town government ruling with ‘intimidation and malice’. Assistant Town Administrator on the beat, sending registered legal notices to home owners working on their cars at home, causing him to spend dollars to have a lawyer to protect himself and his family. Who is next? We need another BOS Chairman and his allies in town, now!!”

“Thumbs up to Hudson having a credit union. It doesn’t seem to be well known and was happy news to me. Good bye to banking fees for me.”

“Thumbs up/down. It is very concerning that only 28% of Hudson households recycle. Perhaps the town fathers will consider putting a surcharge on their tax bill to the other 72% of households who do not recycle. For the households who do not recycle, do not complain about the new collection program going to effect on Jan. 1, 2012.”
