ALLIANZ MUSICAL INSURANCE PROVIDING A PLATFORM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
At Allianz Musical Insurance we are avid supporters of musicians and believe it’s important to give upcoming acts an avenue to get the recognition they deserve.
As the largest musical insurer in the UK, our role is to make sure you’re onstage to do what you do best. But we’re not just about protecting your instruments if they are lost, stolen or broken; we’re also devoted to developing the UK’s musicians of the future.
We work closely with a number of musical organisations, who focus on improving the range of opportunities available to young people interested in music. These organisations include Musicians’ Union, the International Guitar Foundation and the Music for Youth’s National Festival.
When it comes to insuring your instruments we are specialists – we understand the music industry and your specific needs. Our PowerPlay policy is specifically designed to cover all forms of ‘powered’ instruments, from electric guitars to synthesizers and digital production tools, as well as drum kits, making it the perfect cover for individual musicians, bands or DJs.

MARIONETTES
Scottish indie-pop is generally the best and so Marionettes are worth a listen. They release their free EP, Shrinking Violets, on 2 December, so you can grab that pretty much now. But it’s the track Today a Dog Shall Die that really got me interested. It’s a simple enough tune but the jittery lead lines that dominate the muffled pop on offer, and the fairly cracking pace, maintain interest. Joyous and uplifting in its summery lilt, this tune is especially good for these winter days (northern hemisphere)/summer days (southern hemisphere).

THROWING UP
There’s so little to say about this lot because it’s all in what you hear. It’s incredible of course. Having toured around our fair aisles a bit, it’s about time more people paid them some attention. They’ve released a couple of seven-inch records and a bunch of tracks on iTunes, my favourite probably being When I Touch You.
