Churches Together

Retired teacher Liam Gardiner has been elected new chairman of Saltburn Churches Together, which takes in Emmanuel, Methodist, Our Lady of Lourdes and the Lighthouse churches. New vicar the Rev Adam Reed is now

vice-chairman, and secretary Frances Rodda. Several joint services are to be held in

the next few months, it was agreed at the annual meeting. Archbishop John Sentanu of York is to dedicate Emmanuel's hall on Sunday January 15, 2012, a few weeks before the renovations are due to be completed. See the Christmas Worship and

Greeting on page 44. Lena raised funds for SARA

A sequel to the successful car and air show at Saltburn beach and valley gardens in July is that 93-year-old Lena Jackson, of Saltburn, raised £200 in sponsorship money for her flight in the air balloon for the Saltburn Animal Rescue charity, which she has supported since it started in the 1990s. The committee received the money after

hearing an hilarious account of her adventure, which included a blackbird relieving itself on Lena’s daughter!

Profile Gallery

Profile Gallery, now in its new location in the Saltburn Station Buildings at the heart of the town, has had a busy summer of exhibitions showcasing work by regional and national artists. The team are working hard behind the scenes planning a full programme of exhibitions, courses and events for 2012.

Although the new year is not yet upon us,

December will bring a change to the space. Due to the busy time of year for Profile-based photographer Becky Mitchell, the gallery will be transformed into a studio for family and child portraits. Work undertaken before 18th December will be guaranteed ready for Christmas. Gift vouchers are also available. For bookings please ring Becky on 07903 548435. Profile Gallery will be selecting some of its

favourite works by a variety of talented photographers to showcase in the space throughout the month. All work will be available to purchase. Profile's ‘The Sitting Room’ tea shop has also

had a busy year with the good people of Saltburn adventurously embracing its full range of leaf-teas (the Spiced Chai is a must-try as winter sets in) and speciality coffees. For tea and coffee lovers, hampers will be available during December from Profile Gallery & Sitting Room.
