Founded in 1959, the


Woman’s Cancer Association (WCA) of the University of Miami provides funds for cancer research, cancer education, and patient welfare at the University of Miami. In 2011, the group has supported Sylvester with more than $500,000 for cancer research as well as assistance and products for cancer patients. This past year, beneficiaries of the WCA’s generosity included investigators dedicated to research in the following areas: breast cancer, pediatric cancer, prostate cancer, melanoma as well as basic research in viral gene expression and cancer vaccines.
